5317: Resources for Digital Environment

Over the past eight weeks, I’ve experienced meaningful growth through taking Resources for Digital Environment and Leading Organizational Change simultaneously.  I came into both classes excited but unsure of how all the components would tie together. What I didn’t expect was how connected everything would feel once I leaned into the process. From creating a publication outline to doing a podcast, every assignment helped me clarify my goals as an educator and innovator.

One of the most interesting parts of this journey was being in the student role—completing assignments and participating in group work that I now hope to implement in my own virtual homeschool program. Experiencing these activities first hand gave me a fresh perspective on what works well and how it feels to engage in collaborative online learning.

One of the biggest highlights was the freedom to explore topics that genuinely interest me—especially those related to virtual learning and social engagement. This flexibility not only fueled my curiosity but also directly supported my professional development. I was able to create projects that reflect my passion for helping students connect and thrive in digital learning environments.

That said, there’s still room for growth. One area I want to continue improving is the integration of my work into my website that reflects the vision I have in my mind. It’s one thing to complete assignments; it’s another to design a user-friendly, cohesive platform that tells a compelling story. That’s the challenge I’m embracing next.

Throughout this course, each assignment added a unique layer to my learning.

  • Publication Outline – This was a thought-provoking experience that helped me clearly focus on how tech-forward curriculum supports social connection in homeschool environments.

  • Publication Rough Draft – Working with my team was awesome! We’ve built trust through ongoing group discussions, and receiving their feedback felt safe and supportive. It was easy to make the changes they suggested because I knew they genuinely wanted me to succeed.

  • Media Project – I discovered I’m a bit camera shy! But this project also made me realize I want to grow more comfortable in front of the camera, and I’m now seeking speaking opportunities to stretch myself.

  • Final Publication Draft – The feedback and revisions helped me polish my ideas into a strong final piece that I'm proud to share. Check out my final draft here!

Collaboration was a core part of my success. My discussion group built a foundation of trust that made it easy to share ideas, give and receive feedback, and grow together. I truly appreciate and value the encouragement and empathy my team showed me throughout the course.

This course reminded me that learning is both personal and communal. I grew through my own work, but also through the insights of my classmates and the guidance of our instructor. It also helped me strengthen my broader digital publication strategy—something I’ll continue to refine as I build my website and portfolio.

Thanks for joining me on this journey—I'm excited to keep building!
