Welcome to Module 1 of Reimagining Science Instruction: Creative, Inclusive, and Technology-Driven Strategies for EC–8 Classrooms. In this module, you’ll explore what true student engagement in science looks like — and why engagement is less about managing behavior and more about intentional lesson design. Many science teachers are encouraged to “make it fun,” yet are rarely given practical guidance on how to balance creativity with structure, clarity, and inclusivity. This module is designed to change that. You’ll reflect on your own classroom experiences, examine common engagement challenges, and begin reframing science instruction as a tool for supporting student behavior, curiosity, and understanding. Through interactive activities and guided reflection, you’ll identify small but powerful design shifts that can immediately improve engagement for all learners.
